Speculated to be the largest ever organism ever recorded is a honey fungus In Oregon at 3.4 square miles big & around 2000 years old, most of it lives underground as a massive network of Mycelium. Pretty cool

Ancient Japanese farmers believed that lighting strikes made mushrooms more plentiful. Cooler is that scientists have shown that lighting actually does help mushrooms, especially shiitake mushrooms, grow.

Thanks MMM for all the love you have made towards the community!

The mantis shrimp has 16 photoreceptors, compared to a human’s 3.

Roaches carry some of the highest amount protein in them than any other insect and they also carry the least amount of diseases when compared to other invertibrates. On the contrary, the one that is known to carry the most amount of diseases are crickets. Accirding to studies, roaches have only been known to carry 1 disease and crickets up to 21 diseases. At least last time I checked.
Thank you MMM for all you have done and do

Axolotls can regenerate their limbs! They’re commonly used for scientific research, seeing if limb regeneration can be applicable to humans. I’ve always found it weird that you need a permit to own one, since they’re endangered in the wild, but they’re so heavily bred in captivity for research purposes.

  10. Short-Win1232

congrats on seven years….here’s hoping you keep spreading your spores everywhere for many more.

Did you know female reindeer are the only species of deer where the female have antlers also. Thanks for the chance

  12. yonekuras

Congratulations on your 7 year birthday from Japan.

  13. Greg Peters

Also that Female reindeer hold their antlers longer than the males so by Christmas time only the females still have antlers…

The little things don’t matter. The big things do. But it’s up to us to decide what those actually are and what truly matters when all the noise is removed and the anger is recognized and dismissed. It’s easy to get lost in ego and aesthetics, but all of that means nothing. Staying young comes from the inside. Wisdom is what allows people to age with grace. For all of our flaws as humans, the best thing we do is love.

  16. Metermind

Just received my first order. Thanks, Mushroom Man!

Pestalotiopsis microspora: Discovered in the Amazon rainforest by Yale students in 2011, this rare fungus can survive on polyurethane as its sole food source and, crucially, can do so in environments without oxygen, making it a potential solution for landfills.
