This species of oyster is prized for its thick stems which are a great meat substitute (hence the name “Kings”). Kings are best when top fruited and require relatively cold temps. They tend to produce a single large flush, but can produce a second flush. A great mushroom for those trying to expand their culinary library options.
Fruits best between 55-65°F.

All gourmet liquid cultures (LCs) are provided with a 16g needle (in the manufacturer’s packaging) and come in 10 mL capped syringes. They will be labelled on the plunger and are grown in a 1-2% malt extract solution. Shake well before use.
I've grown oyster mushrooms about a dozen times and this culture seemed to grow faster compared to other vendors I've purchased from, fair price and good quality, I was very happy with it, will very likely purchase again in the future

This is my first time growing king oysters, but having previously grown chestnuts from spores supplied by MMM I was ready for my next adventure.
I started with partially hydrated brown rice in quart jars, and these spores colonized incredibly quickly and completely.
Once introduced into the Master's Mix I was expecting a slow colonizing process based on reports elsewhere. HOLY CRAP DID THEY COLONIZE QUICKLY! A week later that cake was almost completely colonized. Two days on the cool garage floor, then back in the heated (66F) tent and the pins ERUPTED from the substrate.
From spawning into the substrate to explosive pin growth was about a month, but it surely could have been faster had I not delayed things to go on vacation for a week.
tl;dr: These spores were incredibly healthy and voraciously active.
Got these as a freebie and was very excited. Have never grown mushrooms before and figured it was worth a shot. Liquid culture inoculated very quickly and with some simple wood pellets I'm now enjoying nice and big king oysters! I expected my first time was going to be a failure (and a learning experience) but these were super easy. I did a half tote. Already have another tote going and I'm going to use the rest of the syringe for another one. They are super tasty. Thank you for the great freebie. I will totally buy edible mushrooms like these in the future. Thanks for turning me on to these.

I tested this gourmet liquid culture on (3) clean agar dishes. Not only were all (3) completely free of contamination, the mycelium growth started within 2 days, (day 3) had ‘dime’ size mycelium visible to naked eye.
Very happy.
